Captain John Pagenstecher
Capt. John was born in Virginia Beach and has been fishing since his grandfather stuck a fishing pole in his hands at age 7 and he landed a Flounder on his first trip. He has been fishing the lower Cape Fear and its creeks for the last 10 years and knows how to put you on some big “Reds”. John holds a U.S.C.G. 50 ton Masters license with towing endorsements and specializes in inshore fishing for Red Drum, Speckled Trout, Flounder and Stripers. He has had several citation Flounder in his catch and holds the Got-Em-On club record with an 8 lb Speckled Trout. However, one of John’s biggest thrills is to share the excitement of hooking up and catching fish with kids who are fishing for the first time.

John and his wife Angela are also the owners of Kayak Carolina and Carolina Coastal Adventures, which features Kayak Tours, Sightseeing, Kids Camps and Marine Educational Programs.

 The Coastal Adventurer is our custom rigged 24-foot Carolina Skiff
 DLX and it’s our workhorse. We can comfortable seat 12-14 people
 for a sightseeing tour or it’s great for getting 4-6 people into the
 saltmarsh to chase Reds, Flounder and Speckled Trout. Equipped
 with a 115 HP Suzuki 4-stroke and necessary electronics, we can  
 really get down the river with a bunch of people.

 The Tradewind is our 30-foot Rybovich custom sport fishing boat.
 She’s powered by a Cummins 375 HP turbo diesel and has all the
 electronics to get you to the places you need to get to, to find fish.
 There is plenty of deck space and an enclosed head. Can fish with
 up to 6 people.
